Remembering "Chili" Al Bell

My cooking buddy and friend left us on 2/18/2010.
Al Bell was from North Carolina and loved his BBQ. He cooked on a Lang 84 named "Gertie".
He was an avid BBQ fan and judged MIM, FBA and KCBS contests. He became a KCBS Master Judge in 2008. Al was an excellent cook and earned his nickname by winning many chili cookoffs.
With a heavy heart I say goodbye to a wonderful person and great friend.

BBQ Olympics

Why is BBQ not included in the Olympics?
We got folks running around with a flame!
No need for firestarters.
For goodness sake it should be better than Ping Pong.
Or synchronized diving.
You figure it out.
